Network Support Specialist (SMG-Colorado Convention Center ...

General Summary:

50% - Network administration including but not limited to Active Directory, DHCP, Exchange and File Servers. Troubleshoot, configure, and deploy equipment (desktops, laptops, iPads, monitors, etc.). Support user software including MS Office products, Adobe products and other proprietary software.

50% - Work on installation, maintenance, and repairs of facility communications systems including telephone systems, computer/data systems, and radio and television broadcasts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Closing Date: April 12,2012

? Configure and deploy new equipment and update computer inventory.
? Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair workstations, hardware, software, computer peripherals, iPads, and iPhones.
? Develop and maintain updated base desktop images.
? Assist clients and other analysts in understanding and using workstations by providing day-to-day consulting assistance, problem resolution, informal training and by developing and distributing formal and informal documentation.
? Solve routine and extraordinary field technical problems
? Correctly use and apply communication test equipment to verify problems related to the facility systems
? Read, understand, and communicate client floor-plan layouts.
? Assist the Systems Administrator perform network administration duties including supporting and maintaining user account information including rights, security and systems groups through Active Directory and MS Exchange.
? Set and strike phones and phone lines.
? Punch down cross connects on a 110 block and occasionally a 66 block for dial tone and ISDN lines.
? Troubleshoot, repair and replace cat5/cat6 cable and jacks.
? Understand the wire color code for T568B standard.
? Coordinate work with all departments; inter-face effectively with all users, providers, and peers including working well in a small 3-person team environment.

? Maintain a safe working environment
? Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

? Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field or two years equivalent work experience.

? Familiarity with computers, switches, routers, Windows Operating Systems, MS Server 2008 and Microsoft Office Applications.

? Cabling (data and voice) experience a plus.

? Strong organizational, communication, and inter-personal skills.

? High school diploma or GED

Working Conditions:

Position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation both indoors and out. Subject to adverse conditions. Irregular hours and occasional overtime required.
