Position Summary:
Seattle University has an exciting, dynamic opportunity for a International Admissions Advisor to join our community.

The International Admissions Advisor will advise both internal and external parties on matters of initial immigration, SEVIS requirements, and policies around international admissions and transcript evaluation.

Essential Job Functions:
Perform international educational credential evaluation for undergraduate and graduate applicants. Working closely with the Assistant Director for International Outreach and Web Development, represent undergraduate educational opportunities and Seattle University's international and domestic application requirements to prospective students and perform marketing activities to promote the University and its various academic and student life offerings.

Respond to telephone and internet inquiries. Provide telephone support for the Undergraduate Admissions general telephone line. Act as liaison for Admissions to Education Abroad and the International Student Center.

Meet with prospective Seattle University students through high school and community college visits, campus interviews, and on- and off-campus information sessions. Represent the University through professional organizations and their sub-committees.

Review and evaluate foreign credentials for undergraduate and graduate applicants. Provide advisory support for the recognition and evaluation of foreign institutions for other campus departments.

Serve as a Designated School Official ( DSO). Perform initial immigration for incoming international (F -1) and processing for incoming reciprocal exchanges (J-1) students. Coordinate immigration advising and processing for all incoming international students with International Student Center staff.

Review undergraduate and graduate acceptance packets for the appropriate Datatel Colleague coding, provisions, and acceptance packet materials. Mail and track undergraduate and graduate acceptance packets to domestic and international addresses.

Marginal Job Functions:
Collaborate with professional organizations such as NAFSA, AWISA, and AACRAO to assist in maintaining current best practices and policies in international admissions and evaluation. Research new trends and developments in worldwide educational systems and the field of international education.

Participate in Admissions Office planning and activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years of experience in admissions or international student center of an educational institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job functions.

One year of experience evaluating international educational credentials for U.S. equivalence.

Must possess well-developed organizational skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Must be sensitive to students from diverse populations. Ability to occasionally travel and work evenings and weekends.

This position requires a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of immigration, SEVIS, international abroad, and undergraduate admissions at a private university setting. Three or more years international credential evaluation experience in admissions or international student center of an educational institution.

Compensation:
Salary will be discussed during the interview process and is commensurate with qualifications.
