Ousted 'Idol' Magrane defends final song choice

By Ree Hines

Shannon Magrane's final song choice on "American Idol" might not have hit the right note with the audience, but the 16-year-old is certain that the Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men selection "One Sweet Day" was the right choice for her.

During a Tuesday morning visited to TODAY, Magrane explained why.

"You know, I'm only 16, and it's really hard to find a song for myself that's not only going to fit myself but it's going to appeal to everybody else in the audience," she said. "I feel like I picked the right song in my heart. It was a song me and my grandpa had chemistry with before he passed away."

Regardless of the outcome, it's hard to argue with a sentiment like that.

See how the remaining contestants fare with their latest song choices Wednesday night on "American Idol."
